So are you telling me that you guys have created a "basically" hot swappable processor thats also modular that can be added to at will and improved over time? something that i can run as a super computer or use as a multiple VM server??? because if so, thats exactly what I have been looking for to build my home "core"


couple of suggestions...

1) edit ..scratch this.. i like the accelerator!!

2) change the design >>>SLIGHTLY<<< change is so that the board is easily inseartable into a modular "case" so when you plug it in it will be powered from a rail at the back of the unit (think hot swap server drives)

3)Send me ideas to design and model such a case/console to house a certain number of these.

4) begin to look at ways to move away from copper and use fiber for massive amounts of data movement. this should limit the number of switch ports and cabling considerably since "technically" you could supply multiple boards with one fiber line. you could even use the fiber to create a "nest" of boards that all talk to each other and proccess together. using fiber would ensure data keeps up with the proccessing speed. ( i would LOVE this)
5) possible mini esata type connection between boards??

great work guys! ill look into the feasibility of using this to run my simulations and renderings on and if it will work Ill buy a few. (All cpu based)

The design includes some GPIO pins that have significantly better bandwidth than Ethernet. I too would love to see someone build a network across these for clustering purposes.

i THINK that I can run my software on any machine, linux or windows. im not sure, i have to check.. but if i can, then it would be very simple to run 20 virtual machines, install the software, and network it for distributed computing.

I just dont have enough hardware/programming skills to dive in much deeper than premade solutions . (i need to fix that)
