Will I be able to connect a 40 pin connector?

Hello. I really like the idea of Parallella (and I like RaspberryPi, too), but I don't know much about connecting anything that has to do with electronics . Though, I want to build my own laptop using a parallella. I've searched the web for displays without a "frame", but the only (good one) I found was named "ACER ASPIRE ONE ZG5 8.9" LAPTOP NETBOOK LCD DISPLAY ". In the description on amazon it says "Data connector: 40 pin". Since this is a display especially for this Acer netbook and I couldn't find any "40 pin to HDMI/DVI transformer" I wanted to ask you if it was possible to connect this screen to the Parallella.
If not, do I have to look for a display with HDMI/DVI connector or is there any other possibility?

Sorry but you can't connect it directly like that. It's very unlikely that you are going to be able to use that screen at all without making a custom PCB.

Besides, the Parallella board would not make a laptop motherboard for normal use. The part that actually runs Linux is not the Epiphany processor itself but rather a dual core ARM on FPGA. Your smartphone probably has a much faster ARM CPU than the ARM CPU on this one. The Parallella is intended to be an all-in-one development system for the Epiphany processor and does not use it to run any OS. While it works well as a development system, it's likely very poor for things like web browsing compared to most other options.

Sorry to burst your bubble but this isn't really something you should pursue as it's very much like trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

Ok, I see . But what does the epiphany processor do if it's not the part running linux? And could I use a self-made laptop (with parallella) for testing my (small) programs? Because I also want to learn programming (python).
