admittedly raspberry pi has the advantage that an announcement can be made in their forums and reach much more people than an announcement here and in some zync forums. however, why even seek audience in forums on hardware you use? shouldn't you rather announce in the places dealing with your actual application? for example a software-defined radio project should be announced in sdr communities, so why is there no kickstarted for the new sdr project? is adapteva so rich that they can easily afford pushing out a sdr-plugin without much help?
another possibility for parallella kickstarter is to mimic and collect some money for paying professional programmers to make parallella useful for clusters of various kinds. parallella consumes much less power per core than Pi. if you'd reduce the actual fpga usage it would also create much less heat than Pi. now is the best time to announce such a thing!
