Hash computing and crypto...

Hi All,

I'm very interested in Parallella but I'm not sure if it is suitable for me.

What I would like to know is if the Parallella is suitable for applications where the calculation of many check-sums and encryption algorithms is required?
I'm thinking of MD5, SHA1-3, AES, DES, etc...

Up until now I have been using a combination of GPUs and FPGAs. Does anyone know of any ASICs or FPGAs suited to hash computing and cryptography?

This summer we have two projects running on GSoC Openwall for implementing the bcrypt and scrypt algorithms on Parallella.

Thank you for your replies everyone.

I work for a small group that is interested in investing further in to small project hash cracking and cryptography. Most of the work we do in this area is just enough to fund the hardware we use.
As much as we would like to, we are not in a position to use our own design resources to incorporate epiphany multicore processors in to our products.

From what I've read so far, I'm thinking it would be in my best interest to wait for the 64 core solutions to become available.
