So after racking my brain trying to figure this out I realized the board was pretty hot. I thought the passive cooling would be enough for a hello world example. I threw the board in my fridge for a few minutes, then reran this and it ran fine.

I'm still not 100% sure but I'll try putting a fan over the heatsink to see how it works.

Yep, that was the problem... it's been working fine since and I've gotten a preliminary version of the SUMMA matrix multiplication algorithm to run on the board. So much for passive cooling :P... but at least it works :)
