Saw your request for people to test the image and thought I would try it!
Downloaded the headless 7020 image, as I have given up with the monitor a long time back and it is more convenient using one keyboard and mouse.
1. Using Windows (Vista 64 bit ultimate in this case) the new procedure is a doddle, even for a Linux noob such as myself and I like this a lot
I think the original image was done this way! Just as importantly,
it worked first time 'out of the box' with a Kickstarter board 2. I logged in using WinSCP so I could look around the files. I also logged in to the command line using Putty and ran top, so I could see what was going on. After an hour I put a thermocouple on the Zync heatsink and connected to my multimeter to monitor the temperature. I monitored the temperature for an hour and it was 45 degrees C. Took a deep breath and switched off the fans
The temperature went up to 55 degrees C fairly quickly, but after half an hour showed no signs of increasing, so I put the fans back on and shutdown.
The temperature daemon is a great idea
and will give peace of mind
3. Cannot comment about power consumption, do not know how to measure it.
4. See 2, with top I could see the daemon operating. Will try running some programs to increase the load and temperature.
5. Pubuntu? Not sure, as Pub in English means some thing entirely different, ie where food (sometimes) and alcohol are consumed
Some other observations :-
I have found that sudo is still needed
On the old image I could access an X terminal, but currently cannot with the new image
This is probably down to me, but not sure.
Incidentally, (and slightly off topic) I am sure all of the Linux noobs (such as me) would appreciate some guidance on accessing X and running the desktop remotely in the instructions
