What can the Parallella be used for?

Can someone explain to me what I would be able to use the Parallella for as someone who knows nothing about coding (especially not about parallel programming) who just wants a good computer?

So far I know that it runs on ubuntu and can be used for surfing on the internet and for watching videos.

The thing I really want to know is can it be used for games? I found a topic similair to this one where the awnser to this question is yes, it can run linux games.
Is that true, and if so, does that mean all games that are supported by linux (many of the most common ones)?
When I searched for games on the Parallella on Youtube all I found was a rather simple pixely game, does that mean that the board only runs games created specifically for it?

Another thing that I would like to know is, even if the Parallella can support all these games, is it simply not made for games and would therefore be laggy?

No, I think Parallella is not that what you are expecting of it. I can't run any video games, which requires OpenGL nor OpenGL ES as it doesn't contains such accelerators.
As the Epiphany coprocessor can do some calculation, there could be a game using it to display some complex video scenes but not in generaly as you are expecting.

In addition to miro comment, the board seem to have problem with USB ports which you can connect keyboard/mouse. If you can't use the keyboard or mouse with it then its not for general purpose

Just to clarify teekai's comment, a small number of users are having trouble with USB, the vast majority are not. it is a problem we are actively working to correct. If you (or anyone) receives a board which does not boot properly simply let us know and it will be replaced.
