Motorola LapDock, made Parallela portable

holgt, I hope you can help me. I've bought a Lapdock to use with my Parallella, and I'm very interested in the solution you came up with for powering the Parallella through a USB port of the Lapdock. I found a similar cable to the one you're using on Sparkfun (I checked it's the right polarity)...https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8639

However, as Sparkfun points out, this would only give me 500mA, and the Parallella needs around 2000mA... http://www.parallella.org/quick-start/

How are you getting the extra juice for your Parallella? Please help me, I don't understand!!

If anyone else knows a bit about power over USB, please share, maybe there's something I've missed.

In case anyone wants to try out a Lapdock with a Parallella, I made this list on Amazon of the cables you'll need:


Two small points... 1. Still unsure the power cable will provide sufficient power, though it seems to be working for holgt. 2. The HDMI and USB cables were confirmed as working by a different Parallella user, who also indicated that they fit next to each other very well on the Lapdock.

Anyway, hope the list is of use to someone.
