The IVT is meant to be a series of unconditional branches, so I'd expect a series of words all starting E8.

I have no idea what you're trying to do, but for some reason you're trying to print the .init section as ivt entries (???) - try e-objdump -h and e-objdump -d to figure out if your elf file contains whatever it is you want/need. Flattening the elf file using objcopy is not going to magically prepend ivt entries.

IVT entry 0 is populated by the CRT0. You will not see it using -S switch.

Use one of the SDK supplied LDFs to get a reliable linkage, suitable for the platform in use.

Look, the binary image loaded on the chip with e_load() is taken from an SREC file. This file contains all the required information to load a full program, sans the "crap" you don't want. If you can't parse an ELF, use the SREC as an intermediate step for you simulator.
