seems simple to me to use MACRO and scripts to replace those hardcoded core IDs. So that we only need one copy, one directory of device code to generate all 16 or 64 cores srec.
any issues?

I assume you are referring to the matmul-16 example. You are right. The provided code is not the final form. The e_get_coreid() and e_neighbor_id() functions are exactly there for this purpose.
