One year on, is there now an ETA for this eBook ? Thank-you.

It's been asked about several times on the KS pages, and they've always skipped over it. They won't take 15min to write all the promised shipping updates, so I seriously doubt they've taken any time to write a book. BTW, that goes for the forums too. They haven't given a definitive answer on this section of the forum in months, so don't hold your breath for a response that's not 100% speculative.

I'd be maximally surprised if Yaniv and Andreas have managed to write this eBook, and it's no doubt only possible to write a worthwhile, relevant text after testing Parallella Gen1 and its assorted software systems, SDKs, and tools.

Adapteva simply providing its backers with a realistic delivery date for the eBook would be appreciated and satisfactory.

Eventhough promise is a promise, I don't understand the insist on a book. Usually a book is about a thing that is clearly understood by the author. Apparently, parallel is not. So start exploring the forums and other web pages, I bet if you spend time thinking, reading discussions and experimenting, you could write your own book in 3 months. this is what I will do to start.

The books is from adapteva so I'm guessing they already understand it. If not, we've got much bigger problems. He's talking about the ebook addon from Kickstarter, not a book by a random author.

One of the points made on KS for wanting the book was so that they could use the book as a way to get started learning in order to be more prepared when the board arrived. Surely that's not so hard to understand. It made sense to me because sometimes I'll pick up the pre-release books from oreilly or amazon to get a head start on something before it comes out or when it's too new to have a lot of resources. It's easier to sit down and read a book when you don't have the device begging for your attention.

It doesn't change the fact that he will likely never get a legitimate answer, but hey... good luck.

The sdk and arch refs are a good start.

You're completely missing the point, my dear fellow.

First, I am asking Adapteva about a Kickstarter add-on that I and others have bought and paid for.

Second, this PDF, it was declared, "will include source code examples of parallel programs that use OpenCL, OpenMP, Erlang, and MPI".
The putative content consists of examples in four different cross-platform parallel programming languages, tested on one particular platform, here Parallella / Epiphany.

To cut to the chase, "An Introduction to Parallel Programming" does not equate to "the sdk and arch refs"; the latter are documents that anybody in the world (with the slightest interest in Parallella/Epiphany) knows are required reading.

I got a copy of the book myself, but I don't mind getting the board before the book for the reason mentioned above. Plus, there are plenty of examples in C on github, so it's not like you are left completely in the dark on that front.

Is the book late? Yes. Will it be delivered? Yes. Will moping do anything to change matters? No.

Irrelevant.

Tangential.

Shannon entropy zero.

(Yet again) delivery is not in question; the ETA is in question.

Try to channel your imagination usefully.

Since the board takes priority over the book, the eta of the book will follow after that of the board.
