installable os

Postby adexmont » Fri Oct 24, 2014 9:01 am

I was able to boot with not so much difficult my board , but when i try use it i get some difficult to manage settings because (my thought) the os is provided as image and not as an installation process.

Is there some project about the operative system installation?

At my eyes the best solution should be a translation layer that from a standard image (ex ubuntu debian fedora) allow users to install chosen OS so the troubles relatives to user permission, root configuration and similar stuff maybe can solved.

I can understand it's not an easy work but for me it's the way to provide OS for this platform.

Hope to expressed my self clearly enough :P .

Thanks

thanks for the links , a lot of things that make me dream (cause i understand the description) but unfortunately i'm not able to understand the code and neither use it :( i'll try to get more knowledge ... (not so sure to reach that point)

But from what i get this links are all instruments to create something more similar to a preinstalled that to an installation.
For example , something like anaconda for fedora that run at the first boot or on demand is something possible with a sort of simplicity ?

sorry for my ignorance :P

Hi, yes this is not about create os, basically yocto is about "assembling" os
( uboot + linux kernel + core utilities(libc+binutils+bash/busybox, etc))

about "creating" os:
