Thanks! I think the two main questions are:

1.) How can people get access to the article without paying IEEE fees?

2.) Is any of this work supported by open source software that developers can have access to. Even 'as-is' would be fine.

About the paper, I don't know how to make it publicly available for free. I guess I am not allowed to distribute it myself, right? I will talk to my supervisors and see what we can do about it.

That's awesome! If you are interested, I would love it you could upload the example to parallella-examples and do a short blog post (nothing formal) about the project. If you are interested, send me an email and I will send you login information to the parallella web site.

To upload sources to examples (and assign a license, I recommend MIT) just get a github account.
