Hi

how is the bootloader made failsafe? It seems really PITA that parallella can not boot from SD Card!

Or maybe is something wrong with the documentation that is public: connecting 2 USB inerfaces to PS will disable SD card boot. So either second USB goes via PL or SD Card boot is not available.

Our intent was to use the flash for boot only. (so no user access).We will do our best to ensure users who run Linux are safe(ish).
For people working at bare metal, we will expose the JTAG pins of the FPGA.

Hi, I am so sorry to disturb You tonight, (tomorrow my point of view. - Sorry, it was a 'high ball') ;) -. More than welcome the QSPI flash on the Parallella board. I have a wish list, I would not like so 'stress' You until the specification. But, I 'beg' for a 'boundary scan' for flash too. Please conduct the flash into the JTAG boundary. Let us access to the flash too. More wish tomorrow/today. (UTC + 01:00). I think, the 'programmable quick boot' from QSPI flash' is essential for Zynq so, for Epiphany too. Thank You. Regards, Gabor.

@psupine Enabling JTAG with USB would complicate the design and drive up cost for the board for everyone. It's a tough decision...but at the moment, we are really trying to reduce components from the board rather than adding more. On the zedboard for example, there is a separate FTDI chip and USB connector for the programming. We understand that this may not be popular with everyone.

@psupine Not sure I understood the question about the debugger.

@mgrs As long as you can access the JTAG, you can program the FPGA as well as the flash using Xilinx tools.
