on demand vs performance

I find the ondemand governor really nasty to use - makes the machine feel like a dog. But with the performance cpu governor it starts to feel at least interactively-quick.

Is there any particular reason the performance one isn't used by default?

It's not like the board is running on batteries in general.

That's the default behavior of CPUfreq.
Parallella Ubuntu kernel doesn't support CPUfreq for now.
