The latest Linux: does Jack compile ?

I've followed the discussion on the latest Linaro update a bit, and understood one disadvantage, that some have tackled already, is that the FPGA programming device isn't part of the kernel anymore. I wondered if anyone has looked at a possible advantage and compiled Jack (linux audio) on the latest Linux download for Parallella?

I've compiled Jack for an earlier kernel/Linux and got it to work unless it would have to sync with Alsa, because somewhere something was broken (on the RPI for instance it was much easier and runs ok), but then I upgraded to the later Parallella SD card files, you know, the one where the Epiphany is a proper user-space device, and didn't try the whole Jack compile again because I got stuck early on and I recall it was an evening work the time before that.

So, maybe with the latest Linux, Jack can be apt-ed properly ? Does anyone know by having tried ?
