GCC Git clone problem

Apologies if this is not the correct fourm.

Problem with the git clone of the GCC project. Have 600Mb .git tree, but faile with:

warning: remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref, unable to checkout.

Looked up on the web and it requires an administrator fix on the repo.

Excuse, solution to get a working copy, is to checkout one of the branches present:

git branch -a

remotes/origin/epiphany-gcc-4.7
remotes/origin/epiphany-gcc-4.8
remotes/origin/epiphany-gcc-4.8-software-cache

git checkout epiphany-gcc-4.8-software-cache

Problem arose that I expected a master.
