Eagle library available

Postby tnt » Thu Aug 15, 2013 10:52 pm

I've just pushed a first version of a eagle library for the parallella.

It contains :
- The raw connector as separate device
- The full parallella rev 0
- The full parallella rev 1

https://github.com/smunaut/parallella-h ... llella.lbr

Cheers,

Sylvain

This is very cool and thanks for publishing the library!

I was wondering whether we ought to have a repo under github.com/parallella to collect together contributed libraries in the various tool formats, and perhaps other daughter card design related resources. Thoughts?

EDIT: just spotted its in your fork of parallella-hw. So, perhaps we should just take contributions in here.

Cheers,

Andrew

Yes, I though about making a repo but then I realized that the parallella-hw would be better suited. I'd like for someone else than me to review the lib before I submit it for inclusion in the official repo though :p

I think it's fair to assume that there would be review before any such inclusion :D In any case, will see how Andreas would like us to manage contributions such as this, where it makes sense to have them all in one place.

Cheers,

Andrew

it would be prudent to test it by making physical PCBs before proceeding further.

Physical PCB would only test part of the lib (just that the connectors are at the right place, not at all which pin is which) and you could only do it for the R0 anyway since there is no R1 physically yet ...

So I think the next step is just peer review. Then some R0 physical tests ...

Sylvain,

This is awesome. We would be happy to accept it into the official parallella-hw repo!

Hi. May I ask where you got the information re the Y location of the 4 connectors ?
I would like to lay out a board using Proteus.
(I have an old version of Eagle, but it can not do the 4 layers I need.)
cheers,
Beau

For the IDF mechanical files ( .emn )

You have the holes positions : [ drill_size, x, y ]

Code: Select all
    125.00        0.00     1900.00  PTH  PTH4  PIN  UNOWNED
    125.00     3150.00     1900.00  PTH  PTH3  PIN  UNOWNED
    125.00     3150.00        0.00  PTH  PTH2  PIN  UNOWNED
    125.00        0.00        0.00  PTH  PTH1  PIN  UNOWNED

Then the connector placement [x,y,z] :

Code: Select all
CONN_BSH60P_13P59X25P88_P5P_V  CON_BSH_030_VERT  J13
    725.00     1840.00        0.00       0.000  BOTTOM  PLACED
CONN_BSH60P_13P59X25P88_P5P_V  CON_BSH_030_VERT  J11
    725.00       60.00        0.00       0.000  BOTTOM  PLACED
CONN_BSH60P_13P59X25P88_P5P_V  CON_BSH_030_VERT  J9
   2425.00     1840.00        0.00       0.000  BOTTOM  PLACED
CONN_BSH60P_13P59X25P88_P5P_V  CON_BSH_030_VERT  J8
   2425.00       60.00        0.00       0.000  BOTTOM  PLACED

(all dimensions in mils)
