"Paracard" KiCad template for daughtercards

Postby FHuettig » Tue Aug 05, 2014 6:46 pm

Just wanted to mention that the Parallella hardware repository includes a KiCad template for duaghtercards here, in the "paracard-template" folder. This folder may be dropped into KiCad's template directory and it will show up as an option when creating a new project.

This template is very similar to the one from tized, but I think this one is a bit more modular. For example if you don't need to use the eLink connectors, just remove those pages from the top level. The paracard also provides both single-ended and differential naming for the GPIOs. The paracard template was used to create the Porcupine daughtercard and has been proven in hardware. If there are any suggestions or corrections post them here.

And if you're an Eagle user there is this.

Has anyone looked into having a template added to the official KiCad releases, like the RasPi one?

Chris Gammell, of Contextual Electronics, is doing a fine job promoting KiCad. He's set up a web site c/w forums at http://kicad.info.
