Ethernet stuck at 1000M (ie. not working at 100M)

Postby tnt » Sat May 11, 2013 8:29 am

Hi,

When re-creating a SD card using the files from ftp://ftp.parallella.org/parallella/ the embedded ethernet port seems stuck at 1G and doesn't work when plugged in 100M ports.

Cheers,

Sylvain

Ok, finally found the problem ...

the device tree doesn't contain proper PHY initialization :

Code: Select all
                                phy0: phy@7 {
                                        compatible = "marvell,88e1510";
                                        device_type = "ethernet-phy";
-                                       reg = <7>;
+                                       reg = <0x0>;
+                                       marvell,reg-init=<3 16 0xff00 0x1e 3 17 0xfff0 0x0a>;
                                } ;

That would have been easier if the phy datasheet (marvell 88e1510) was public ... damn f**** vendors and their NDA.

We'll take a look at the updated device tree for Parallella to see how it compares to the old zedboard version. Really sorry that we couldn't be the ones to locate the issue...

Well I'm sure you must all keep busy trying to get the board shipped :p

Do you know if all the chips on the parallella have public available dataheets or are some of them under NDA only ?
